Image Info & Pricing

Framing OptionsTop

If you choose to purchase a framed image, the illustration below shows approximate colors for framing choices. The framing material is wood.

There is one basic, satin-black finish, and four choices of wood colors if you do not want black. Frame OptionsThe colors, in order of appearance, are Satin Black, Mahogany, Cherry, Light Cherry, and Natural. Because of the characteristics of color representation on the web, the colors shown are approximate, but the illustration is offered as a relative comparison chart.

The black framing will provide about the type of framing you see in many photographic exhibits; simple, but often just right for most images. All colors illustrated are completely a matter of personal choice. You should, therefore, choose the colors carefully, based on your desired impression for display of the image. We cannot refund your price if you make a choice of framing which does not appeal to you on arrival. Once you purchase the framed image that sale is final.

The following chart sets out the unframed and framed sizes and the unframed and framed prices of images. Please note, that the sizes shown are approximate, but the final product will be close to the sizes listed in the chart. Variations from chart sizes result from shooting conditions and from cropping judgment of the photographer. Cropping at your request can be done, at a very small extra fee (see first note under chart) by contacting us.

You should take into consideration that cropping always results in the loss of part of the image shown in the Image Galleries. We will endeavor to make the most optimal cropping decisions that we can, but if you wish to inquire about the resulting image before ordering, please inquire here. All prices shown are net and will be shipped at the additional UPS or USPS insured rates applicable to your destination. We do not use Fed Ex. Signed, limited series images have a higher price than shown in the chart. Those prices are shown with the image, in the Image Gallery. All prices are subject to change at the artist’s discretion and any changes will be reflected here as soon as practical.

* A 9.75-inch limitation is required for the 10-inch side in the X-Small size, by printer restrictions. You can request a full 8x10 image if you feel that the extra 1/4-inch of image is required for your display. Also, you may request a size somewhere between the unframed sizes shown in each category. These will entail a very small extra charge, between $2.00 and $5.00 (depending on size), for supplies, special handling and, depending on the change, may increase shipping cost. Please contact us if you want any change in the category sizes shown. Again, all sizes are subject to the actual image aspect ratio, which can vary because of shooting and cropping conditions, as explained above.

** The Framed Price shown includes frame, glass, white matting and hardware for non-serialized, framed, images. Higher pricing applies to limited series and award images, as shown in the Image Gallery. Except for award-winning or specially-priced, limited images, the pricing will be approximately $20 to $40 higher, per image, for serialized images. Award winning and special images are priced accordingly.

Method of PrintingTop

Images up to a maximum of 16 x 23 inches are printed on high quality photographic print paper. At the discretion of the photographer, the papers used are either Red River premium or polar matte or Dorian Art, or an equivalent luster paper, on an Epson Stylus Pro 4800 printer. That printer uses Epson Ultra Chrome K3 high density, long life, pigment inks. This combination results in an excellent range of colors and an advanced black-and-white output. The colors represented here on the web, however, are not nearly as true or pleasing as they are when you receive your image. If you wish to specify which type of paper is to be used, of the choices above, please contact us prior to your order. Ultra-premium papers of Red River and certain other manufacturers are available, at extra cost.

Shipping & ReturnsTop

All photographs are shipped at your prepaid shipping and handling costs (no COD), insured. The carrier is, at our discretion, UPS Ground or regular United States Postal Service (Fed Ex is not available), based on location, handling procedures and shipment contents. For international deliveries, please inquire here prior to ordering.

Domestic delivery time from date of order varies from approximately 4 to 7 business days for *unframed* orders. A longer shipping period applies to framed images, dependent on your location, framer scheduling times and images ordered, but may take from seven days, up to four weeks. If you wish, you can contact us for an estimate of time, when you place your order.

If, for any reason, you are not satisfied with an *unframed* image, we will refund 100% of your image price (not including shipping and handling), upon its return to us in the undamaged condition that it was shipped. We cannot refund on damaged, altered, soiled or framed images. Return shipping charges and insurance are your responsibility and cannot be reimbursed. You must contact us prior to any return and we will give you specific return instructions. Under any circumstance, a purchased, unframed, image on which you are requesting a refund, must reach us within 35 days from our shipping date to you, or a refund cannot be made.

Framed Image OutletTop

Outlet

The photographs being offered in the Framed Image Outlet are ready for display, as shown in the representation of one of the images, to the side of this text. They come from past shows in which I have exhibited these specific framed images. The images can also be found in the regular areas of this site, offered at the regular pricing, in various sizes and with standard framing materials.

So, why buy images from the Outlet at the same price as they are offered in the regular image galleries? These images were framed as specific-show images and the framing is of quality metal, rather than wood, as is offered in the other sections of my website. The matting is, also, specially chosen and normally has a colored core, which results in a thin, colored, emphasis border around the photograph. Finally, most, if not all, of the images were offered (and several sold) at a higher price in various shows in which they appeared.

Because I wish to move these previously exhibited images out of my inventory, I am offering them at the same price as that offered in the specific-image area of the website. This means that you obtain different framing and matting materials, with somewhat more visual effect, for no extra charge. Some of the photographs have been shown overseas and the shipping has taken a tiny toll on the framing, like a small chip at the very bottom edge of the glass on one image or a small mark in the frame of another, but nothing which is more than normal wear and tear. The difference in framing for the same price, and the web prices, which are lower than the show prices, more than make up for these tiny marks and, in the great majority of the works, there is no wear at all.

Once you purchase one of these images, however, it cannot be returned. As with other framed images, shipping and re-shipping raises the chances of damage. I believe, however, that you will enjoy the slight step up in appearance of the matting and framing. The number of images is strictly limited since they were framed for shows and will not be framed in this manner in the future, unless specific shows call for it or unless a customer pays more for similar framing.

Every one of these images is also limited in series, signed and numbered, usually near the first of the series. —VMS

Image SearchTop

There is a search database for our images. While there are several categories to browse, listed to the left of most pages and under specific images, you can also enter keywords in the search box in the upper right corner of the page, to narrow your choices. The keywords applicable to the images in the Image Gallery accommodate more selective searches. The breadth of your results is determined by your selection of keywords. For example, if you enter the word, “bird”, you will get a different result than if you enter the word, “birds”. As with all interactions between databases and humans, the results may not be completely satisfying. Please contact us if you wish to inquire if we have an image that you feel the search may have missed.

The LightboxTop

The Lightbox acts as your “wish list”. You may add up to 30 images to your personal Lightbox while browsing, without incurring any obligation. If you wish to finalize the purchase of an image or images in your Lightbox, click on the thumbnail of that image shown in the Lightbox, to view the enlarged image. Then select the items, sizes, etc., that you want to purchase and click on "add to cart". Since there are myriad monitor resolutions, sizes and brands, our site cannot anticipate each customer’s equipment characteristics. So, if you click on a thumbnail to order an image and you do not see the size and other selection choices, please scroll down to reach those areas of the page. The Lightbox also has self-explanatory choices listed in its top menu bar.

Shopping Cart & Check OutTop

The shopping cart displays the details of your order. If you want to delete an image before proceeding to checkout or to cancel out the shopping cart, click on the red X in the “Action” column, on the right side of the image(s).

You will need to log in to be able to complete your order. If you are new to this site, please complete the registration form to create a username and password. This required information is stored so that the check out feature will work correctly and also so that future purchases can be made faster and easier. Plus, by using the My Account feature, you can review your order history and edit your customer information. Your personal information will neither be shared with nor sold to any other party, unless you direct us in writing to do so.

Bread Crumbs, Thumbnails and SlidesTop

Bread Crumbs: If you look in the upper, middle-left side of the page when you are browsing through images, and on some other pages, you will see what we call a “bread crumb trail”. For example, if you go to Birds & Animals and then click on Cardinals, you will see the bread crumb trail which states:

Home > Birds & Animals > Cardinals

You can at any time click on a word in that list, prior to the page where you are, and the site will return you to the page appropriate to the word on which you clicked. In the above example, if you click on “Home”, the site will take you to the first working page of the site, where all image categories are located. In other words, the trail is a list of where you have just been and you can follow it backward. Those categories are also listed to the left of most pages. If you click on “Birds & Animals” in the left column of most pages, the site will take you to the page where all bird and animal image categories are located.

The bread crumb trail, as well as the categories on the left of most pages are, therefore, very helpful in the rapid navigation of the site.

Thumbnails: You probably know what thumbnails are, without explanation. However, if you happen to click on a thumbnail of an image and it takes you to an image which is only partially displayed – perhaps its bottom is below your monitor’s lower limit – just scroll downwards to find the balance of the page. This is related to the differences in everyone’s equipment, as described above under “The Lightbox”.

Slides: When you reach a page with a category of images on it, with thumbnails of all of the images displayed, you will find the words, “Slide Show” in the top center of those thumbnails. For example, if you are in the category, “Flowers & Plants”, you will see “Slide Show” approximately above the top center thumbnail.

If you click on that phrase, the site will begin a slide show of all the thumbnail images of flowers and plants, but in a larger image format. Again, if an image is partially hidden while the slide show is going on, simply scroll down a bit to raise the image.

If you want to stop the slide show, you can click on a word in the bread crumb trail and the site will take you to the location on which you clicked. Alternatively, if you are in a slide show and want to go to another category not in your bread crumb trail, simply click on one of the links listed on the left side of the page and you will immediately be taken to that location.

GeneralTop

The images on this site will change from time to time. Some new images will be added; some old ones may be removed. Some may be revised and others may be moved to another category.

Some images also appear in more than one category. That is because their subject matter is applicable to more than one category. If you contact us with a question about new images, we will be happy to inform you of whether new ones are on the way at any time in the near future.

If we have not covered a subject you need to know or if you find a problem on the site, please let us know.
